The Umbrella Project

What Is It?       The Umbrella Project was started in 2017 as a Girl Scout Gold Award service project. The Gold Award is the highest achievement a Girl Scout can receive and is centered around the community. The goal of the Gold Award is to take an issue within their community and educate and inspire others in taking action to help solve the problem. Why This Topic?      I chose to make my Gold award centered on mental health because it is an extremely important topic that is often not talked about. For me, mental health issues hit very close to home. Not only do I myself suffer from some mental illnesses, but many of my close friends and family do too. Another reason I chose to do this topic is because I am extremely interested in many aspects of psychology.
